Dairy Services

WATCH: RVC farm animal Vet Richard talks about what the farm animal team get up to on a daily basis. From the large dairy units with 1500 animals to lifestyle block chickens, alpacas, goats and sheep etc.

PREGNANCY SCANNING

WATCH: our large animal veterinarians in action for the pregnancy scanning season. Early age scanning can accurately detect pregnancies from 35-90 days which gives an idea of how well the mating season has gone. Key metrics like 3 & 6 week in-calf rates will help identify which cows conceived to artificial insemination programs and assist with creating management groups for calving next season.

Our veterinary technician team records results straight into InfoVet/MINDA for efficient reporting back to the farmer.

Body Condition scores

In autumn body condition of the herd takes priority over production. April/May is a balance between getting as much production as possible, meeting cow BCS targets and achieving winter minimum feed cover targets. Monitoring growth rates weekly is a good way to stay on top of this.
